Hairspray was a bust.

Complete utter FAILURE.

Heres what happened:

Day of Auditions: Colored Velma in pink and green on my audition sheet and attached a resume and headshot. Mrs Strong said shes keeping the picture (its horrible) Went in and sang boots are made for walkin. Nail it. Feel ubber confident. Over 100 people ended up trying out. Yikes. Kiss the Velma picture on my binder.

Day of Callbacks: Called back for VELMA and Amber. Think to thy self I can nail this. Run through song millions of times. Walk in room. 4 other girls called back as well. All seniors and one junior. When we run over the song I dont use the paper. Just sing it. Hope it impresses them. Calls names. I'm called last. Everyone used their paper, but I just put mine on my chair and get up on the stage and NAIL it. I was comedic, vial, vain. Think to thy self...I got this in the bag. Go back in the lobby. Mrs Noble comes in and winks at me. Think to thy self I GOT IT! Gets very excited. Amber callback. Dont really care for the role so I just sing it with the paper. Eh. Callback for Prudy. Act out scene. Callbacks over. At Farmers Market ABOUT TO PERFORM IN 10 MINUTES and get call from Stacey. Find out I get AMBER UNDERSTUDY. Cry #1. Tell Mckenzie and mother. Cry #2. Perform. Cry while performing Cry #3. Get boba to help but it doesnt. Cry #4. All the way home.
Day After: Go in at lunch to ask Mrs Noble some questions. Cry #5. Go to drama room for party. Cry #6. When I find out who got role, say something I absolutly do not mean and get humiliated. Cry #7. Cast list out. Set in stone.

Postitive Things: I get a 5 OUT OF 5 on dancing :) Vocal wise I was the best for Velma

Negative: Didnt get it because they didnt like the way I acted it out, was missing the poise (uh Mrs Strong, did you or did you not see me as Elsa not too long ago???) all my friends gets roles except me

So, what to do now. Not do the show? Do another show? I have no idea.

Christmas Time is Here...

Christmas is here. Oh happiness :)

There are so many things I love about this holiday. Making cookies, presents, family, the Christmas story, decorated Disneyland, and Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. (the most AMAZING drink ever)

Its also the only time I can really listen to Christmas music. Listening to that stuff at any other time is just....depressing. At least I get depressed. Its almost like its shoving in my face that its not Christmas yet.

Well, as for the rest of my non-festive life, its just grand. School is coming and going and Hairspray auditions are just around the corner :P

Anyway, today after church I went over to Marisa's house to work on Hairspray and watch the Chargers game. The fact they won with a shutout made my day :)
I belted away Baltimore Crabs as well and Marisa sang her heart out to I Can Hear the Bells. Fun stuff.

So now, I am waiting to somehow get the original soundtrack. I want Linda Hart to sing me to sleep.

Oh. Wow. Eat Pray Love was the most amazing movie I have seen since the day before, when I saw (500) Days of Summer. I'm so lucky...two awesome movies in a row.

They both helped me to realize some important things. Some...obervations shall we say about life and the keys of it. Since this is a time of self discovery, I'll add a questionare as well

On The Present: Right now, things are pretty well. No friend drama, grades are starting to slip a little. My skin is starting to clear up (acne bugs the living shit out of me) The only stress factor in my life is Hairspray (I did, however find an audition song :) and getting all my Christmas presents done. I don't think I've ever knitted as fast or as long EVER. So life presently right now is....grand

On The Past: The past is the past. Although we can never change it, we can always reflect back on it and learn from it. This would probably explain why history is my favorite subject ;). As much as I like the fact that I'm writing in a blog, I miss writing in my diary. I want a notebook, or diary, were I can just write everything in. I seem to be having so many breakdowns lately, it would help to have that journal handy.

On The Future: The future looks....promising. I'm looking foward to a lot of things right now. Lets just leave it at that

On School: Not to be a Debbie Downer, but if I had balls, school could suck them. I'm absolutley done with the stupid annoying work from World History, all the work that makes no sense in APCP, logs in Algebra, and way too long math problems in Chem. Notice I didn't mention English and Spanish ;)

On Love: I think this has been my biggest realization so far. For so long, I've been so worried about having a realtionship and being in love and thinking it would never happen so I needed to make it happen now. But I've come to realize that, none of it matters. If there's one thing I'm going to believe about love, its that what happens...happens. Just to let it be. Don't force something to happen. If it didnt happen then its because something better is gonna happen soon. Of course I see the people around school holding hands and kiss and hug and wish that was me, but then I remind myself that that IS going to be...when it matters the most

So, in less than 2 weeks will be Hairspray auditions.








Holy. Crap.







Its all the drama department has been buzzing about. Hairspray this and that and whos going for what. Which makes sense, I guess. To be honest, it gets annoying a tad. But I don't blame them, I'm as excited (just not verbally showing it)







So, what am I going for you may ask?

Thats right. I had to put it in caps, bold, underlined, and itatlicaized. Does that not convince you enough I want that role very badly?







How about this then....for almost two months straight, I have watched every showing possible of Baltimore Crabs and Velmas Revenge, contacted 2 Velmas that did the national tour, been practicing all her songs....yeah. I want it bad.







The one thing I havn't practiced, however, is the audition song. Stupid on my part, since its what you have to do to even get in the show.



Problem is, its not like I can go pick Little Girls or some musical theater song. That'd be easy. Nope, they want us to sing an authentic 60s song that has nothing ot do with a musical.



FAN. FREAKIN. TASTIC.



So, I'm pretty much screwed.



And you can help! Please! If you know of any 60s songs (male or female) that match Velmas character, then please share! I am at the mercy of the people who respond to this. PLEASE
